JAFFREY, N.H. - Senior Nick Angelo (Sutton, Mass./Saint John's) tied for medalist honors, and the Saint Michael's College men's golf team took second among five institutions on Wednesday at the Franklin Pierce University Fall Invitational at The Shattuck Golf Course. During the meet, which was limited to nine holes due to weather, the Purple Knights fired off a total of 181 strokes. Franklin Pierce won at 170 strokes.
Angelo carded a 41 during the competition, tying for second overall but matching the best score among golfers whose scores went toward team totals. In his first college meet, junior Corey Carlos (Essex, Vt./Essex) tied for seventh by shooting a 43, while classmate Steve French (Goffstown, N.H./Goffstown) fired a 48. Senior Zach Musgrave (Bedford, N.H./Kimball Union Academy) was one stroke behind during his first meet since 2009, and after serving as team manager as a sophomore and studying abroad last fall. First-year Devin Garrison (Stamford, Vt./South Kent School) rounded out the Purple Knight competitors, shooting a 54 in his initial college action.
Saint Michael's breaks until the three-day New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship begins on Oct. 27 at The Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass.
