Angelo ties for first place at Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational
KEENE, N.H. - Saint Michael's College men's golf junior Nicholas Angelo (Sutton, Mass./Saint John's) tied for first place on Wednesday, firing a 75 to grab co-medalist honors at the Franklin Pierce University Fall Invitational at the Bretwood Golf Course.
Fresh off of their best Northeast-10 Conference Championship in 11 years last Monday, the Purple Knights tied for third out of six varsity teams on Wednesday with 325 strokes, matching Southern New Hampshire University. Franklin Pierce won the competition, firing 312 total shots.
Angelo matched a Franklin Pierce player for first place, as each was among nine varsity players to break 80. Sophomore Steve French (Goffstown, N.H./Goffstown Area) carded an 82 to tie for 15th, and senior John Goodwin (Wolfeboro, N.H./Kent School) was one stroke behind while tying for 18th. Juniors George Flanagan (Andover, Mass./Andover) and Dylan Lavallee (Colchester, Vt./Rice Memorial) were the Purple Knights' other two competitors, with Lavallee the fourth scorer.
Saint Michael's completes its season at the three-day New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship, which begins on Sunday at The Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass., on Cape Cod.
