Golf Cruises To Win In Four-Team Meet; Mitchell Claims Medalist Honors


WILLISTON, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College golf team cruised to its second win in as many meets this season on Sunday in a four-team invitational at the par-70 Catamount Golf Club.

Saint Michael's shot a 39-over par 319, beating second-place Johnson State College by 35 strokes. Vermont Technical College was third with a 412, while Green Mountain College shot a 425 to finish fourth.

Junior Mark Mitchell (Wilbraham, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson Academy) earned medalist honors with a one-over par 71 to lead the Purple Knights. Sophomore John Goodwin (Wolfeboro, N.H./Kent School (Conn.)) also fired a solid round for Saint Michael's, carding an eight-over par 78.

Saint Michael's returns to action on Wednesday, September 23, as the Purple Knights take part in the Vermont State Championship at Vermont National Country Club in South Burlington.
