WORCESTER, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College field hockey team (4-12, 2-6 Northeast-10 Conference) snapped a three-game losing skid in thrilling fasion on Saturday, winning at Assumption College in penalty strokes, 3-2.
Senior Kate Higgins (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) scored the deciding goal in penalty strokes for the Purple Knights. Classmate Kaitlin Koffink (Goffstown, N.H./Goffstown Area) and sophomore Jenny Boudrow (Dedham, Mass./Dedham) scored Saint Michael's regulation goals, with assists credited to juniors Natalie Elvidge (Newton, N.J./Newton) and Kaleigh Ferrari (Millbrook, N.Y./The Millbrook School), respectively.
Sophomore Jackie Stacey (West Windsor, Vt./Woodstock Union) stopped seven shots through regulation and two overtime periods to earn the win in her first collegiate start.
Saint Michael's returns to action on Wednesday with a 6 p.m. match at league-rival American International College.
