COLCHESTER, Vt. - Eight from the Saint Michael's College field hockey team were named to the 2008 National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Division II National Academic Squad, it was announced on Monday.
Headlining the honorees is senior Sara Fournier (Swanton, Vt./Missisquoi Valley Union), a four-year award recipient.
Also named to the team are: senior Jordan Smalling (Essex, Vt./Essex); juniors Kemi Brewster (Saint Michael, Barbados/Combermere), Laura Heil (Hudson Falls, N.Y./Hudson Falls), Kate Higgins (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield), and Lynsey Nally (West Newbury, Mass./Pentucket Regional); sophomore Natalie Elvidge (Newton, N.J./Newton); and freshman Taylor Wahrenbrock (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill).
The eight players combined to play in 139 games for the Purple Knights in 2008 (each played in at least 14 contests), and helped lead the Purple Knights to an 11-8 record and a berth in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.
