FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Saint Michael's College baseball team (2-8) ended its spring break on Saturday with a 15-1 loss to nationally-ranked Trinity (Conn.) College at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic. The game was called after 7 1/2 innings due to rain.
Trinity broke open a scoreless game with eight runs in the bottom of the second inning off of Saint Michael's starter Kevin Wickles (Hatfield, Mass./Suffield Academy). The Bantams sealed the victory with a five-run fifth inning.
For the Purple Knights, sophomore Matt Beaulieu (Littleton, Mass./Lawrence Academy) scored the lone run on an RBI groundout by freshman Ben Yodzio (Hingham, Mass./Hingham). Junior Colin Dudunake (Florence, Mass./Suffield Academy) pitched five innings of effective relief, striking out six.
Saint Michael's resumes play on Friday with a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Assumption College.
