FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Saint Michael's College baseball team (2-7) suffered a pair of losses to Saint Lawrence University on Friday at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic, losing the opener, 15-5, and game two, 12-2.
In game one, Saint Lawrence scored in every inning to bounce back from Monday's 18-16 loss to the Purple Knights. For Saint Michael's, senior Greg McLaughlin (Rutland, Vt./Rutland) doubled and singled, while sophomore Matt Beaulieu (Littleton, Mass./Lawrence Academy) added a two-run single.
In the nightcap, Saint Lawrence scored seven runs in the second inning to erase an early deficit. For the Purple Knights, McLaughlin doubled twice, while sophomore Julio Patrone (Charleston, Mass./Roxbury CC) pitched three innings of scoreless relief.
The Purple Knights close out their spring break trip on Saturday with a 10 a.m. contest versus Trinity (Conn.) College.
