COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College had 199 student-athletes qualify for the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for the spring semester, including 10 that posted a 4.0 grade-point average last semester.
Saint Michael's was seventh among the league's 15 institutions in total honorees, and also seventh by having 59 percent of its NE-10 student-athletes land on the Commissioner's Honor Roll. Student-athletes that earn a minimum 3.0 GPA during a given semester are eligible for the accolade. Eighteen of the Purple Knights' squads compete in the NE-10.
Recent graduate Elena Bilodeau (Waterbury, Vt./Harwood Union) earned a 4.0 GPA for the second consecutive semester as one of four women's cross country runners with a perfect GPA, being joined by classmates Leanna Hammond (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) and Maura O'Riordan (Medway, Mass./Marian) and junior Lindy Heffernan (Sutton Mills, N.H./Kearsarge Regional).
May graduate Amanda Brigante (Colchester, Vt./Colchester) was among three softball players with a perfect 4.0, doing so for the sixth consecutive semester, while rising sophomores Jessica Barnett (Essex Junction, Vt./Essex) and Jane Erlandson (Georgetown, Mass./Georgetown) turned the feat for the second straight semester.
Field hockey rising junior Kelsie Miller (Templeton, Mass./Narragansett Regional) drew her third straight perfect GPA, while teammate and recent graduate Courtney Bedell (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) closed out her undergraduate career with a 4.0 during her final semester. Men's tennis first-year Patrick Dietz (Prospect, Conn./Woodland Regional) was the lone male student-athlete with a 4.0 GPA this past spring.
The field hockey team topped Saint Michael's with 21 honorees, while men's ice hockey (19), men's lacrosse (19), baseball (18) and women's cross country (18) narrowly trailed.
