Dwyer hired as coordinator of athletic facilities, student workers and events
COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College has hired Ann Dwyer as the coordinator of athletic facilities, student workers and events, Director of Athletics Geri Knortz announced today. Dwyer, who begins her duties at the College on Dec. 1, spent more than two years as the assistant to the director of athletics at Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pa.
"I am very excited to become part of the Saint Michael's Athletic Department and College community," said Dwyer. "I'd like to thank Geri Knortz and the entire athletic staff for this tremendous opportunity. I'm really looking forward to working with the students, staff and faculty of Saint Michael's. I'm excited to share my passion and enthusiasm for athletics with the College community, while creating a positive experience for the students of Saint Michael's."
Dwyer began working in August 2009 at Cedar Crest, where she managed various responsibilities through a position made possible through the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship Grant Program. In addition to managing operations at all home athletic events, Dwyer coordinated game schedules, was involved with compliance, and supervised student employees and event staff. She also implemented the NCAA Challenging Athletes' Minds for Personal Success (CHAMPS)/Life Skills program at the institution, was an adviser to the department's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and created the Cedar Crest athletic department operations manual.
"Ann is a young, rising professional in athletic administration, who in a short time has demonstrated outstanding commitment and work ethic in prior positions," said Knortz. "We welcome her enthusiasm and talent and look forward to her joining the Purple Knight staff."
In addition to her administrative role at Cedar Crest, Dwyer served as the assistant field hockey and women's lacrosse coach for two years, and earned the department's Black and Gold Award in 2011. This past summer, Dwyer maintained operations for the Warminster, Pa.-based Future Stars Camp and its eight locations. Dwyer was previously the varsity girls' basketball assistant coach at Conwell-Egan Catholic (Pa.) High School during the 2008-09 season.
A 2007 graduate of Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University, Dwyer earned her bachelor's degree in sports/entertainment/event management, graduating summa cum laude. She completed her master's from Johnson & Wales in hospitality the next year. In addition to playing three seasons of basketball, Dwyer was an equipment and game operations assistant for three years and earned the athletic department's Tom Carmody Award in 2008.
Dwyer has been a member of both the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA) and the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA) since 2010. In June 2011, she graduated from the NCAA/NACWAA Institute for Administrative Advancement East program.
