Saint Michael's To Host Trio Of "Senior Days" On Saturday

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College will recognize 11 senior student-athletes from three fall sports on Saturday as the Purple Knights host a trio of Northeast-10 Conference contests at the Doc Jacobs Sports Complex.

The action begins with men's and women's soccer contests versus the University of New Haven at 12 p.m., and concludes with a field hockey game versus Franklin Pierce University at 3 p.m. The men's soccer game will be played on Saint Michael's grass Doc Jacobs Field, while the women's soccer and field hockey games will be contested on the turf Duffy Field.

The Saint Michael's men's soccer team (7-5-3, 3-5-3 NE-10) still has an outside chance of qualifying for the NE-10 Tournament. The Purple Knights must win versus New Haven (1-14-0, 0-11-0 NE-10) on Saturday, and in their final game at Stonehill College on Wednesday, and also receive some help in order to earn a postseason berth for the third time in four seasons.

Three men's soccer seniors will be recognized prior to Saturday's game: co-captains Jared Berry (Barrington, R.I./Barrington) and Jason Burnett (South Burlington, Vt./Pendelton School/IMG Academy), and Joe Ruggieri (Hillsborough, N.J./Saint Joseph's).

The Saint Michael's women's soccer team (4-10-2, 3-8-2 NE-10) is eliminated from postseason contention, but can severely damage the playoff chances for New Haven (9-6-3, 6-6-2 NE-10). The Purple Knights, who close the season on Wednesday with a 3 p.m. home game against Stonehill, will honor senior Alicia Baxter (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) prior to Saturday's contest.

The Saint Michael's field hockey team (4-13, 2-7 NE-10) will look to close the season on a high note on Saturday, as the Purple Knights hope to avenge a 3-1 loss to Franklin Pierce (8-9, 4-5 NE-10) last month. The Purple Knights will recognize seven field hockey seniors prior to the 3 p.m. game: Desiree Biron (Bow, N.H./The Gunnery School), Kemi Brewster (St. Michael, Barbados/Combermere), Molly DiMasi (Burlington, Vt./Burlington), Laura Heil (Hudson Falls, N.Y./Hudson Falls), Kate Higgins (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield), Kaitlin Koffink (Goffstown, N.H./Goffstown Area), and Lynsey Nally (West Newbury, Mass./Pentucket Regional).
