COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College athletics will be "thinking pink" on Saturday, as the Purple Knights will hold their inaugural Fall Pink Zone Day in conjunction with the Purple Knights' home men's soccer and field hockey contests on Duffy Field at Doc Jacobs Complex.
Saint Michael's will be selling "Pink Zone" T-Shirts during Saturday's 12 p.m. men's soccer game versus Le Moyne College, as well as Saturday's 3 p.m. field hockey contest against Saint Anselm College. The shirts will cost $10, with $5 from every shirt sold going to the Vermont-New Hampshire chapter of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization that provides funding for breast cancer research.
In Saturday's first game on Duffy Field, Saint Michael's (5-3-2, 1-3-2 Northeast-10 Conference) will look to snap a five-match winless skid as the men's soccer team hosts Le Moyne (8-1-1, 5-1-0), ranked 18th in Tuesday's NSCAA/adidas Division II National Poll. The Purple Knights have gone to overtime in each of their last four games, going 0-2-2 in that span.
In the nightcap, Saint Michael's (2-9, 0-3 NE-10) will look to complete a field hockey season sweep of Saint Anselm (1-10, 0-4 NE-10). The Purple Knights cruised to a 7-1 win at Saint Anselm on Sept. 2 in a non-conference contest, but Saint Michael's has lost seven straight games entering Saturday's contest.
