COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College field hockey junior Andrea Slaven (Danvers, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week on Monday and Tuesday, while six other Purple Knights were named to the league's weekly honor roll.
Slaven tallied five goals and an assist in a pair of victories last week. On Saturday, she scored the final three goals of the game - including an unassisted score in overtime - to lead the Purple Knights past American International College, 4-3. She also netted two goals and an assist in a 6-1 victory versus Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday.
Earning an honor roll nod from the field hockey squad is sophomore Kaitlin Koffink (Goffstown, N.H./Goffstown Area). She scored twice in the win against Franklin Pierce, and added an assist versus AIC.
In men's soccer, sophomore Jason Burnett (South Burlington, Vt./IMG Academy) and freshman Ryan Horan (Wheeling, W.V./Wheeling Park) received honors. Burnett went 1-0-1 last week, allowing just one goal while stopping six shots. Horan, meanwhile, scored two goals last week as the Purple Knights remain undefeated at 6-0-2 on the season.
In women's soccer, senior Gillian Goldman (Stratham, N.H./Exeter) earned an honor roll spot. She earned the shutout win at Castleton State College on Thursday, and added seven saves in a 2-0 loss at STonehill College on Saturday.
In cross country, junior Mary Lynn Denholm (Sparks, Md./Okemo Mountain School) nabbed an honor roll spot. She finished 16th to lead all Purple Knights as Saint Michael's finished second in the Middlebury Panther Invitational on Saturday.
In golf, junior Will Crall (Pittsfield, Mass./Saint Joseph Central) earned honors. Crall fired a two-day 165 at the Duke Nelson Invitational over the weekend, including a final-round 77 on Sunday, the Purple Knights' lowest round of the tournament.
