Seven Purple Knights Named To NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll


COLCHESTER, Vt. - Seven Saint Michael's College student-athletes were named to the Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor roll, it was announced on Monday.

In women's lacrosse, senior Kristen Palazzo (Armonk, N.Y./Byram Hills) and sophomore Amanda Soule (Hartland, Vt./Woodstock Union) earned honors. Soule tallied 11 goals and an assist in a pair of road wins last week, including a career-high six goals in Sunday's 18-11 win at the University of New Haven. Palazzo, meanwhile, totaled six goals and an assist in the two victories, including five goals and an assist in Saturday's 17-7 win at American International College. The duo helped Saint Michael's improve to 6-2 overall this season and 3-1 in NE-10 play, as the Purple Knights have won four straight contests.

In men's lacrosse, sophomore Mark Agostinelli (Dedham, Mass./Xaverian) and freshman Bryan Zaremba (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) received recognition. Zaremba finished with nine points in two victories last week, including a game-high five goals and two assists in Thursday's 16-3 home win versus Franklin Pierce College. Agostinelli, meanwhile, had five goals and an assist in the two wins, including three goals and the game-winning assist in Saturday's 7-6 victory at Southern New Hampshire University. The pair helped Saint Michael's improve to 7-3 overall and 6-1 in NE-10 play going into Tuesday's key NE-10 showdown at Merrimack College.

In men's tennis, sophomore Andy Samara (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) and freshman David Besserer (Brattleboro, Vt./Brattleboro Union) were honored. Both players recorded a 6-0, 6-0 singles victory, as well as a doubles win, in Thursday's 9-0 shutout at Saint Anselm College. The victory keeps Saint Michael's (6-9, 4-6 NE-10) playoff hopes alive heading into Wednesday's regular-season finale versus Pace University.

In women's tennis, junior Cailie Burns (Chepachet, R.I./Ponaganset) received an honor roll citation. She went 2-0 in doubles and 1-1 in singles in a pair of conference road wins, including a pair of victories in Sunday's 5-4 win at Assumption College. Saint Michael's (9-8, 7-4 NE-10) is one victory away from its seventh 10-win season in the last eight years heading into Wednesday's regular-season finale versus Pace.
