Seven Purple Knights Named To NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll


COLCHESTER, Vt. - Seven Saint Michael's College student-athletes were named to the Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor roll, it was announced on Monday.

In men's lacrosse, senior Eric Libby (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) and sophomore Gregory Lazarus (Evanston, Ill./Evanston) were recognized. Both players tallied two goals apiece in Saturday's 8-2 victory versus Pace University at Duffy Field, the Purple Knights fourth win in their last five games. Saint Michael's is currently 5-3 overall and 4-1 in league play, and is 11th in today's USILA Division II Men's Lacrosse Poll.

In women's tennis, senior Heidi Murphy (Norfolk, Mass./King Philip Regional) and sophomore Michelle Wood (Chatham, N.Y./Chatham) earned honors. Wood went 3-0 in singles and 1-2 in doubles, while Murphy went 2-1 in singles and 1-2 in doubles in a 1-2 week, including two victories each in Wednesday's 9-0 win against Franklin Pierce College.

In women's lacrosse, freshman Ava Gottschall (Amherst, Mass./Amherst) received honors. Gottschall tallied two goals and two assists in Saturday's 17-14 victory versus Bentley College at Duffy Field, helping the Purple Knights improve to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in NE-10 play this season.

In men's tennis, freshman Sean Steigerwald (North Andover, Mass.) received a citation. Steigerwald posted a pair of straight-set singles victories last week, as well as a doubles victory in a tiebreaker.

In softball, freshman Megan O'Connor (Georgetown, Mass./Georgetown) earned honors. O'Connor went 1-1 on the mound with a 1.62 ERA in two complete games, allowing just 11 hits with no walks and 17 strikeouts in 13 innings pitched. At the plate, she batted .308 (4-13) with a walk.
