COLCHESTER, Vt. - Junior Casey Brooks (Colchester, Vt./Colchester) and sophomore Jeff Hannon (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) earned weekly awards from the Northeast-10 Conference on Monday, while seven Purple Knights earned honor roll status.
Brooks was named the NE-10's Softball Player of the Week. She batted .500 (10-for-20) with six runs and three runs batted in in a 2-4 week in Fort Myers, Fla. On Wednesday, she went 3-for-3 with three runs in a 7-2 victory versus Slippery Rock University, and 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI in a 6-3 win against Bloomfield College.
Hannon was named the NE-10's Men's Lacrosse Goaltender of the Week. Hannon stopped 33-of-52 shots (.635 save percentage) in a 1-1 week. He recorded 16 saves in Saturday's 10-6 win at Saint Anselm College, and stopped 17 shots in Tuesday's 13-3 setback at nationally-ranked Adelphi University.
In women's lacrosse, senior Kristen Palazzo (Armonk, N.Y./Byram Hills) and freshman Ava Gottschall (Amherst, Mass./Amherst) earned honor roll accolades following a 2-0 week in West Palm Beach, Fla. Palazzo scored a game-high four goals in Wednesday's 15-6 win versus Presbyterian College, and two goals in Tuesday's 12-7 victory against the University of New Haven. Gottschall scored a team-best three goals versus New Haven, and added a goal against Presbyterian.
In women's tennis, junior Cailie Burns (Chepachet, R.I./Ponaganset) and sophomore Michelle Wood (Chatham, N.Y./Chatham) received honor roll nods. Wood went 2-1 in singles and 2-2 in doubles while teaming with Burns during the team's spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.C., while Burns added a singles victory in Tuesday's 7-2 win against East Stroudsburg University.
In men's tennis, freshman John Lescure (Kennebunk, Maine/Berwick Academy) was named to the honor roll. Lescure earned a three-set singles victory in Tuesday's 6-3 setback to Messiah College during the squad's spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.C.
In men's lacrosse, sophomore Mike Boerma (Birchrunville, Pa./Lawrence Academy) picked up an honor roll citation. Boerma tallied four goals and two assists in a 1-1 week, including three goals and two helpers in Saturday's triumph over Saint Anselm.
In softball, freshman Megan O'Connor (Georgetown, Mass./Georgetown) earned a spot on the honor roll. She went 1-2 with a 2.44 earned run average and seven strikeouts in 14.1 innings pitched in the team's 2-4 week, and batted .388 (7-for-19) with four runs. She picked up the win with 5.1 innings pitched versus Bloomfield, and went 2-for-4 with two runs to aid her cause.
