COLCHESTER, Vt.- Senior forward Chelsea Kimball (North Berwick, Maine/Noble) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week for her stellar play in a 3-0 week for the Purple Knights. Nine other Saint Michael's athletes, including three of Kimball's teammates, received honorable mention.
Field Hockey
To earn 'Player of the Week' honors, Kimball scored a goal in wins over Franklin Pierce (4-3), Merrimack (2-0) and an overtime game-winner versus American International (2-1). She added an assist in the overtime win over Franklin Pierce.
Senior Brittany O'Brien (Stowe, Vt./Stowe) was awarded for her two goals on the week, including the overtime game-winner against Franklin Pierce.
Junior forward Andrea Slaven (Danvers, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) continued her quest for the single-season record in goals scored at Saint Michael's with three on week. She scored two in the win over Franklin Pierce and added an insurance goal in the Merrimack game. With 17 goals on the season, Slaven is one goal shy of the program single-season record accomplished twice by Seanna Poeleart in 1998 and 1999.
Junior goalkeeper Jordan Smalling (Essex Jct., Vt./Essex) was recognized for recording three consecutive wins, making seven total saves and posting one shut out in a 2-0 win over Merrimack.
Saint Michael's Head Coach Carla Hesler was also acknowledged after three straight wins this past week, giving her 100 wins at Saint Michael's with the 2-0 decision over Merrimack. With a record of 100-67 over nine seasons, Hesler is second all-time for wins in program history. Hesler's overall record as a head coach at Colgate, Yale and Saint Michael's now stands at 199-176-8.

Volleyball
In a 1-1 week for Volleyball, Stephanie Smetana (Independence, Mo./Truman) was honored for her defensive play totaling 63 digs with 30 in a straight set victory over Assumption.

Cross Country
In Cross Country, junior Matt Alexander (Richmond, Vt./Mt. Mansfield Union) finished 15th overall with a time of 28:45 for the 8K course at the Saint Michael's College Invitational to earn honorable mention this week. Alexander led Saint Michael's to a second place finish behind UVM.
Also for the men, freshman Brendan Flynn (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) finished 18th at the Saint Michael's Invitational with a time of 29:27 for the 8K course.
On the women's side, junior Mary Lynn Denholm (Sparks, Md./Okemo Mountain) received recognition for finishing sixth overall at the Saint Michael's College Invitational with a time of 24:10 on the 6K course. She led Saint Michael's to a second place finish behind the University of Vermont.

Women's Soccer
Junior midfielder Sky Bryan (North Yarmouth, Maine/Greely) earned weekly honors for her goal and assist in a 2-1 overtime win over Assumption. Bryan found freshman forward Liz Freiberger (South Walpole, Mass./Walpole), who was also honored, for the overtime game-winner 2:03 into the first overtime versus Assumption.
