Former Saint Michael's College men's basketball player Will Rothermel, a native of York, Maine, has been named Saint Michael's sports information intern for the 2007-08 school year.

Rothermel will assist with all public and media relations facets for the College's 21 NCAA Division II intercollegiate varsity sports programs. He will work primarily with men's and women's ice hockey during the winter season, and will culminate his internship by serving as the College's primary sports information contact during the spring 2008 sports season. Rothermel is expected to begin his duties with Saint Michael's on Aug. 20, and will complete his nine-month internship in May 2008.

"I'm excited to be back on campus and to be part of the family that is the Saint Michael's College community," said Rothermel. "Working closely with students and faculty alike, Saint Michael's athletics program will provide a great foundation to begin my career in college athletics."

Rothermel graduated cum laude from Saint Michael's in May 2006 with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. While at Saint Michael's, he was a member of the Purple Knights' men's basketball team in the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons, earning the squad's Academic Achievement Award both seasons. Off the court, Rothermel served as an assistant to the facilities director as a senior, while also completing a public relations internship with Fuse Marketing. With Fuse, Rothermel monitored regional and national coverage for Eastern Mountain Sports, and assisted in the development of marketing plans for Hawk Clothing.

Since graduation, Rothermel has worked as a financial advisor for Ameriprise Financial in Portsmouth, N.H., and has also worked in landscaping.
