Ed was a talented student-athlete during his years at the College, and has since risen to great heights in professional sports administration. As an undergraduate, he was the baseball team's starting shortstop for four years, and hit over .300 every season. A team captain and MVP, he hit a school-record .439 in 1981. He also served as the College's Sports Information Director as a student! After gaining experience in sports publicity with the ECAC and at Harvard, Ed joined NBC Sports as a publicist for the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Six short years later, at the age of 33, he became Vice President for Sports Information and Special Projects at NBC. During his tenure, he was the spokesman and strategic leader for the network's coverage of the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Olympics, NBA, NFL, MLB, WNBA, PGA, and Notre Dame Football. In 1999, he accepted the position of Vice President for Communications with the CAVS/Gund Arena Company, managing all external and internal communications for the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers, the WNBA's Cleveland Rockers, and the 20,500 seat Gund Arena. He was in that role for four years before becoming the Vice President of PR and Communications for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Akron, Ohio.
