Meg was a very talented two-sport athlete in the early days of women's varsity athletics at Saint Michael's.  She was a four-year standout and valued team captain for the swim team, and she also excelled in field hockey for three years.  Over her career, she built a reputation for being the consummate teammate -- the person who led by example, who was willing to swim whatever distance, play whatever position -- do whatever her team and coaches needed her to do to achieve team success.  Even though she was a distinguished two-sport athlete, her most enduring personal athletic achievement didn't happen on the field hockey field or in the swimming pool.  At the 1980 Block M Dinner, Meg became the first woman ever to receive the Roger F. Keleher '15 Memorial Award, as the College's outstanding scholar-athlete of the graduating class.  It is Saint Michael's most prestigious athletic recognition, and in the era in which she was awarded the honor, it was bestowed on just one student each year.
