As a core value, the Saint Michael's College Athletics Department believes in and is committed to diversity, inclusion and gender equity among its student-athletes, coaches, and administrators. We seek to establish and maintain an inclusive culture that fosters equitable participations for student-athletes and career opportunities for coaches and administrators from diverse backgrounds. Diversity and inclusion improve the learning environment for all student-athletes and enhance the excellence within the College.
The Saint Michael's College Athletics Department will provide or enable programming and education, which sustains foundations of a diverse and inclusive culture across dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to age, race, sex, class, national origin, creed, educational background, disability, gender expression, geographical location, income, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation and work experience.*
* The Saint Michael's Diversity and Inclusion commitment statement mirrors that adopted by both the NCAA and Northeast-10 Conference.
Any Saint Michael's student that needs or desires special accommodation related to diversity and inclusion is encouraged to speak directly with any member of the Athletics administrative team.
In the spring of 2015, student-athletes Hillary Miller '15 (volleyball, swimming & diving) and Nicco Roque '15 (soccer) contributed to the You Can Play Project by filming, producing and editing a video that lent their voice to a cause dedicated to ensuring equality, respect and safety for all athletes, without regard to sexual orientation. Members from all 21 varsity sports programs were involved in the production.
