John M. Jordan
Class of 1987
Soccer
Inducted September 28, 2007

John is considered by many to be the greatest goalkeeper in Purple Knight soccer history. Ironically, he came to Saint Michael's as a field player, but after his team won just one game in 1983, he was asked to convert to the goalkeeper position. John worked very hard in the off-season to learn his new trade, and his efforts produced immediate results for the Knights. In the fall of 1984, the program posted its first winning record (7-6-1), and John played every minute, registering a goals against average of 1.31, and a save percentage of .856. The following season, the Purple Knights improved to 8-5-2, and John's goals against average dropped to 0.98, and his save percentage improved to .884. Program history was made in the fall of 1986, John's senior year. The team registered the best record in program history (a mark that still stands at his induction) at 13-3-1, and John's statistics were incredible ? a goals against average of 0.60, a save percentage of .918, and nine shutouts. For his career, he registered 28 wins, posted a goals against average of 0.95, a save percentage of .883, and recorded 19 shutouts. At the time of his induction, he still holds several goalkeeping records at the College, including fewest goals allowed in a season (10), most shutouts in a career, and lowest goals against average in a season.
