The "Father" of Saint Michael's Athletics. Served the College as
Athletic Director and Coach from 1947-1968. Led the Purple Knight
basketball program to nine State Championships, five New England
Championships, and three straight appearances (1958-60) in the
National College Tournament at Evansville, Indiana. Led the SMC
football program to four successive State Championships; with his
undefeated 1951 team capturing the New England College Division
Title. By also taking the baseball and golf teams to State
Championships, he became the only coach in history to win Vermont
collegiate championships in four different sports. Jacobs is also a
member of the American Association of Baseball Coaches Hall of
Fame, and the Helms Foundation (Athletic Directors) Hall of Fame.
