Sean Finnell
Class of 1994
Baseball
Inducted September 19, 2008

Sean is widely considered to be the greatest catcher in the 100-year history of Saint Michael's baseball, and one of the program's most feared hitters. A First Team All-ECAC and All-Northeast-10 selection, he was named ABCA All-Northeast Region, and was also a 1994 NCAA Division II preseason All-American. At the time of his induction, he is the only Purple Knight baseball player to ever be named All-Northeast-10. Offensively, he owns 18 active records at the College. Sean held a career batting average of .328, with 132 hits, 11 home runs, and 87 runs batted in. In his junior season of 1993, he was ranked nationally in several statistical categories and caught the attention of pro scouts, as he hit .436, with an on base percentage of .509 and a slugging percentage of .753! Defensively, his statistics were equally as impressive. He was an ironman behind the plate, catching 125 career games with a career fielding percentage of .951. He threw out an amazing 45% of all runners who attempted to steal against him! His best season behind the plate was his senior year, when he threw out 57.1% of those attempting to steal (28 of 49). He was a two-time captain of his team, and received the Victor V. LeMieux '35 Award as a senior.
