Sue will forever be remembered as one of the most influential
people in the history of SMC athletics. She was hired in 1976 as
SMC's first full-time female athletic administrator -- just a few
years after the College allowed its first female students. At the
time of her induction, she holds the position of Assistant Athletic
Director, and is in her 20th year of service to the College. Aside
from her many administrative responsibilities, Sue has also been a
very successful coach in several women's sports. Over two decades
at SMC, she has served as head coach of the field hockey,
volleyball, softball, lacrosse, and basketball teams. It is in
basketball that she has achieved the most notoriety. In 1995, she
became one of only three women's coaches in New England basketball
history to surpass 250 NCAA II career wins. Sue has also
represented the College on several prestigious committees, and was
the first female president of the New England Collegiate Athletic
Conference. A great three-sport athlete at the University of
Vermont, she was named to UVM's Hall of Fame in 1991.
