Michel Dupont
Class of 1998
Ice Hockey
Inducted September 19, 2008

One of the greatest hockey players in College history, Michel was a truly remarkable student-athlete, on and off the ice.  He came to Saint Michael's from Mont Royal, Quebec, as a sophomore, and made an immediate impression with his 29 goals and 35 assists for 64 points.  He followed that performance with another team-leading season as a junior (26-25-51), and in his senior year he was the team's top goal scorer (42), and added 29 assists for 71 points.  Despite the three-year career, Michel graduated as the program's all time goal scoring leader, with 97 career goals, and his 186 career points ranks him second in program history.  The ECAC's Rookie of the Year in 1996, he was a three-time NCAA Division II All-American, NEHWA All-New England, and All-ECAC selection!  Michel was part of the legendary "Knight Line," with classmates John Gurskis and Jay Rourke.  The dominant trio re-wrote ECAC and College record books, shattering every line scoring record in Saint Michael's history.  Together, they led the Knights to a 49-25-2 overall record (.657 winning percentage), including an impressive 30-10-2 ECAC record and the 1998 ECAC Central Division title.  A star in the classroom, too, he was an Academic All-American, and recipient of a 1998 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.  He received the 1998 Roger Keleher ‘15 Award as the College's top male scholar-athlete.
