"Mr. Saint Michael's" founded and served as the College's first
Public Relations and Sports Information Director from 1947-1966,
and was very successful in getting national exposure for SMC
through his public relations work in athletics and scholastics. At
the College, he filled the following roles for parts of seven
decades: student, public relations director, sports information
director, music director, professor of humanities, education,
English, and journalism, associate trustee, and chairman of the
journalism department. He founded the College's first student
newspaper, "The Michaelman," and was a founding member of the Hall
of Fame Committee. He was awarded the College's first Citation of
the President in 1978, and received an honorary Doctor of
jurisprudence degree in 1981.
