Jason Curry
Class of 1995
Basketball
Inducted September 18, 2009

Jason was a four-year starter at point guard for the Purple Knights' men's basketball team, and two-year team captain. He graduated as the program's all-time assists leader (second all-time at the time of his induction), and as of 2009 still holds the highest assists-per-game average of 4.8. He still ranks among the top-10 in program history in assists, steals, free throw percentage, and 3-point percentage, and was a two-time All-State First Team honoree. In 1999, he left a promising media career to found Big Apple Basketball, Inc. (BAB), a non-profit organization dedicated to using basketball as a "bridge to discovery" to help children achieve the dream of a college education. In addition to developing their basketball skills, BAB also successfully mentors these at-risk kids, developing their academic strength, life skills, and personal strengths. Over the last 10 years, Curry has personally assisted hundreds of kids in earning athletic and academic scholarships to colleges and universities nationwide. In 2008, he received the inaugural "Strong Coaches, Strong Kids" Award from the Long Island City YMCA, in recognition of his dedication and service to New York City children.
