Ralph S. Coleman
Class of 1968
Basketball
Inducted October 16, 1993

Ralph was a key member of the great Purple Knight basketball teams of the mid 1960's. He was a starter all four years at SMC, and maintained a double-figure scoring average throughout his career. During his term, the Knights had a combined record of 64-26, winning 71% of their games. Saint Michael's also captured the New England Championship in 1966-67, his junior year. Not only did Ralph play a vital role in SMC's tremendous success during that era, he was also an essential part of Hall of Famer Dick Falkenbush's record 51-point performance against Hartwick on February 26, 1967. The game was originally scheduled for February 25th at Burlington's Memorial Auditorium, but Ralph shattered one of the backboards with a pre-game dunk, and there were no replacements! The game was moved to Rice Memorial High School the next day, and the rest is history. Ralph amassed 834 points (10.8 per game) and 625 rebounds (8-1 per game), in his varsity career, and was named All-ECAC in 1968.
