The Hall's first inductee to have attended both Saint Michael's
High School and College. As an athlete, Barry was a three-sport
star, captaining and gaining All-State status in football,
basketball and baseball. He led the football team to the 1933 State
Championship. In 1949, he became head basketball coach, head
freshman football coach, and also assisted with varsity football at
Saint Michael's. His freshman football teams went a combined 14-2-1
and won two frosh state titles. His 1950 team did not allow a
single point scored against! His basketball teams were 43-20, and
won the state title twice. During that span, the Knights won 28
straight home games, and 21 straight against instate opposition.
His .683 career winning percentage is the second-best in SMC
history, and is tops among those who coached at SMC for more than
one season.
