Joseph A. Bellissimo
Class of 1987
Ice Hockey
Inducted October 14, 1995

At the time of his induction, Jay was far and away the most prolific scorer in Ice Knight history. He reigns as the program's all time scoring leader, with 72 goals and 70 assists for 142 points -- with the runner-up trailing his total by 40 points! Jay was the first Ice Knight to ever reach the 100-point plateau, and enters the Hall owning five College records: most goals in a rookie season (16); most goals in a career (72); most assists in a career (70); most points in a career (142); highest points per game average, career (1.75). Jay played a major role in SMC's three straight winning seasons between 1983 and 1986, a stretch during which the Knights were a combined 31-19-4 (62% winning percentage). That streak of winning seasons has been matched just one other time in the College's modern era (1987-90). A two-time All- ECAC selection, Jay was also instrumental in leading the Ice Knights to their first-ever appearance in the ECAC Championship Tournament in 1986.
