Annemarie Noone Adams

Anne was a beloved and very successful head coach for the Saint Michael's field hockey team for 13 seasons (1985 to 1997) who led the program from a struggling independent to a regional power and perennial title contender. A former Purple Knight standout and team captain, she coached the Knights to the historic 1988 ECAC Championship. It was the first women's championship in any sport in College history, and was one of five trips her teams made to the ECAC Final Four. In 1996, field hockey became a Northeast-10 Conference sport, and Anne and her team immediately made their presence felt. They advanced all the way to the Conference's first Championship game in the sport, and Anne was named the NE-10's first Coach of the Year. She led the program to its first National Ranking (#5 in 1993), and in 1995 became the first NCAA Division II coach in New England, and only the fifth in the nation, to record 100 career wins. She helped to develop 21 All-Americans and four of her former players are enshrined in the College's Hall of Fame. Overall, she led the Knights to ten winning seasons, including nine straight from 1988 to 1996, and retired as one of the most successful NCAA Division II field hockey coaches in the nation with her career record of 127-79-9 (.612 win percentage).
