COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College had 228 student-athletes qualify for the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for the fall semester, including 20 that posted a 4.0 grade-point average last semester.
Saint Michael's placed 10th among the league's 15 institutions in total honorees, but it was fifth by having 69.5 percent of its NE10 student-athletes land on the Commissioner's Honor Roll. Student-athletes that earn a minimum 3.0 GPA during a given semester are eligible for the accolade. Eighteen of the Purple Knights' squads compete in the NE10.
Men's ice hockey and women's swimming & diving led the way with three 4.0 student-athletes each. Junior Nic Hermary (Coquitlam, British Columbia/Melfort Mustangs) and first-years Thomas Flack (Toronto, Ontario/Saint Michael's Buzzers) and Brandon Mitchell (North Scituate, R.I./Pomfret School) represented men's ice hockey, while seniors Coral Santos (Pawtucket, R.I./Saint Raphael Academy) and Sammy Sidorakis (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) and junior Meg Flanagan (Middletown, R.I./The Prout School/Boston College) hailed from women's swimming & diving. Sidorakis earned her second perfect semester, while the other five recorded their first.
Women's cross country seniors Leah Seften (Bolton, Conn./Bolton) and Roxy Withers (Hampden, Maine/Hampden Academy) both landed the honor. Withers has had a 4.0 GPA during each of her five semesters as a student-athlete, while Seften put together her second spotless mark. Junior Nicole White (Cranston, R.I./Lincoln School) and sophomore MaKayla Foster (Middlebury, Vt./Middlebury Union) represented field hockey, with this Foster's third time achieving the feat and White's first.
Women's tennis junior Margaret de Pont (Norton, Mass./Bishop Feehan) and sophomore Autumn Tamlyn (Silver Bay, N.Y./Queensbury) and women's volleyball senior Megan Priester (Dover, N.H./Dover) and junior Gabby Ratte (Kula, Hawaii/Seabury Hall/Colby-Sawyer) all posted their first 4.0 GPAs.
Senior Jake Sonberg (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Guertin) of men's lacrosse, junior Bradley Anair (Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony Union) of men's soccer, junior Emily Ferreri (Hyde Park, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) of women's basketball, junior Pat Thornton (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrence) of men's swimming & diving, first-year Walker Storey (Shelburne, Vt./Champlain Valley Union) of men's basketball, and first-year Ashley Turner (Monkton, Vt./Mount Abraham Union) of women's lacrosse all claimed 4.0 GPAs. Ferreri achieved the feat for the fifth in five semesters, Anair tallied his second accolade, while the remaining four claimed their first 4.0 term.
The women's soccer team topped Saint Michael's with 24 honorees, while field hockey (23), men's ice hockey (19), baseball (16), women's cross country (16), men's lacrosse (16), and women's swimming & diving (15) narrowly trailed.
