COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College Associate Director of Athletics Meggan Dulude '07 announced the hire of Brian Lang as the Director of Athletic Internal Operations on Tuesday, effective next Monday. Lang, who most recently held a similar position at Northeast-10 Conference counterpart Assumption College, will oversee the athletic facilities and student employees and serve as the Athletics liaison to the club rugby teams.
"From the moment I pulled onto the campus at Saint Michael's College, I knew I was home," said Lang. "I am exceptionally grateful to Director of Athletics Chris Kenny '86 and Meggan Dulude for this wonderful opportunity, and can't wait to join the rest of the staff. I'm looking forward to the opportunities at the College and working with the Athletics staff, student-athletes and coaches. I want to thank the Assumption College Athletic Department for the past four years, and look forward to being able to stay in the NE10."
Lang joined the Assumption staff in October 2013, serving as the Assistant Athletic and Recreation Director for two years, managing more than 125 student employees and two full-time employees, before moving up to Associate Director of Athletics in August 2015. In that new role, he oversaw scheduling of athletic facilities for games, practices, lifts and meetings for all 24 varsity teams, was sport supervisor for five programs, served as the site representative for numerous NE10 and NCAA championship events hosted by Assumption, and managed the Assistant Director of Athletic for Operations, the Equipment Room staff, and the department's Travel Coordinator.
"Brian is a very experienced and talented athletics administrator whose knowledge of internal and game operations and familiarity with the Northeast-10 Conference will make him an asset to our staff immediately," said Dulude. "Personally and professionally, I am so happy to welcome him to our Saint Michael's community, where I know he will contribute to the development of our students."
A 2010 graduate of Slippery Rock (Pa.) University with a degree in sport management, Lang spent the 2010-11 school year as the Coordinator of Marketing and Events for the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) in Newport News, Va., before working as the Events and Operations Intern at Harvard University the following academy year. Lang finished his master's degree in physical education - with a concentration in sport management - from Old Dominion University in December 2011.
Between July 2012 and October 2013, Lang worked at the University of Chicago as the Athletic Facilities Services Manager, overseeing two indoor facilities and managing four employees, prior to joining Assumption. Beyond his duties there, Lang was a member of the NCAA Division II National Women's Rowing Committee from 2014 to 2017, including spending 2016 as the East Region chair.
